On our continued journey to make Mr. Cooper Group a Great Place to Work® for all, we are constantly looking for ways to improve the team member experience across our brands, which include Mr. Cooper and Xome. Earlier this year, we launched the Mr. Cooper Group Student Debt Program to help our team members reach their financial goals. Loan Processor Aileen Brennan took advantage of the program as soon as it became available to help pay down her student debt faster. Read on as she shares more about her experience and how easy it was to get started.
My story is probably a pretty typical one. I went to a private university that was very expensive and my family could not afford to help in any way. I was pretty naïve when it came to loans or credit and ended up taking on a lot more than I could handle. I had no idea how bad it was until I was out of college and the bills started coming in for the first time.
I decided to go back to school in hopes of deferring the payments a little longer while I figured out how to make ends meet. The loans had been a burden for many years by that point—not just financially but mentally and emotionally. I had federal and private student loans, and any help I could get paying them down was appreciated.
Fast forward to today and I have been enrolled in Mr. Cooper Group’s Student Debt Program since it launched in June. As soon as I heard the program was coming, I was watching its progress like a hawk to get in on the very first day. I had it marked on my calendar and everything.
In the end, enrolling was super easy. All I needed was a student loan statement to verify my account and that was done in just three days! Even better, the program’s first payment was sent directly to my student loan account at the end of the month. And now, I get a payment alert every month and can see my account’s principal balance noticeably dropping after thinking I’d be paying it for decades.
This program is a huge blessing and I appreciate that Mr. Cooper Group took the time to send out surveys and listen to its team members’ needs in this area. My one-year anniversary with the company is coming up and I’m looking forward to many more and becoming debt free! I am very happy to work here and have had nothing but the best experience thus far.
