CalAssist Mortgage Fund
The CalAssist Mortgage Fund Program—also known as CalAssist—was created by the California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) to assist California homeowners whose properties were destroyed or made uninhabitable by certain disasters.
- Applicable disasters are those that received a State of Emergency proclamation by the governor or a Major Disaster Declaration approved by the president between January 2023 and January 2025.
- If you believe you may qualify, you can apply for assistance beginning on 06/12/2025. Applications are reviewed on a first come, first served basis.
Note: The application process is handled by the state. The state determines eligibility, approves or denies the application, and advises Mr. Cooper of their final decision. Mr. Cooper is not involved in the review or decision process.

- If you qualify, you may be eligible for assistance of the lesser of $20,000 or 3 months of PITI (principal, interest, taxes, and insurance) payments. If approved, funds are sent directly to the Servicer as a lump-sum payment and applied to the account.
Note: This assistance does not have to be paid back.
